    Shipping Question for Canadians

I'm looking to buy a set of wheels online and have them shipped to me in Halifax, Nova Scotia.. has anyone ever had wheels shipped from the states? How much can I expect to pay for shipping + duty??

    Thanks

Plenty. I paid $250 to ship an engine on one pallet from California to the U.S border in Washington. I think the best way to ship rims would be on a pallet as well.
Are they new wheels? Also where are they made?

You will get hit with mega duties if they are made in China. If they are made in the U.S. They are covered by NAFTA and you will only have to pay GST/ HST, that's what you guys pay right, HST?

I honestly can't say exactly how much it will cost you but expect somewhere in the $200-300 range I would think.

It all depends on who you ship with too as some companies charge out the ass.

I posted my engine pallet on www.uship.com. You post your package and shipping companies make bids on it and you choose which bid to accept.

Keep in mind that these are usually smaller companies and those who make bids may actually only be the broker who farms it out to another company, I had to deal with some fucking stupid people getting my engine picked up in California I mean sending fucking semi-tractor trailer rigs with no liftgate to a sub-urban neighborhood after I repeatedly told them it was residential pick up type of shit.

Do not ship rims on a pallet. If you box them up individually they won't be oversize/freight. As far as duty I have no idea, what is the value of the wheels?

Have them shipped for $40 each individually via USPS

I'm just looking at getting Diamond Racing Steelies, they're about $90 each, so total of about $360 being shipped.

I'm also about 6 hours from the border...so I don't know if a pick up would be worth it.

Avoid UPS at all costs. Ship only with USPS, they will cost more initially but you will only pay HST+$5 handling fee/parcel. When I got my rims shipped UPS slapped me with $300 COD 2 months after delivery. Look harder for canadian retailers before you buy. Go to every performance shop you can find. It may cost some more upfront, but you'll save more than the difference from shipping. If tire rack can get them for you, they have a deal with UPS where they charge $40-$60 upfront and that covers all delivery costs.

If you can get some time off, find out much a plane trip to Toronto/Niagara is. Rent a car and go across the border to US Adress
