    Need help with ebay problem

I sold an e30 speedo on ebay 2 weeks ago.

The buyer who bought it had a Motometer cluster and this speedo was from a VDO one.

Anyway, he tried to install it and it's not working.

    He wants a refund...

What would you do - it's his fault but I don't want (-) feedback for no reason. Can he even give me negative feedback???

He used buy it now so I can't offer a second chance offer.

    TIA,
    Spencer

If you clearly listed it as a VDO, it's his responsibility to ensure it will work. You are in the clear.

Negative feedback or not, don't worry. One won't kill you.

Did you advertise it as a VDO unit, and that it may not work in other clusters?
I always put in an electrical items are sold as is clause. If you didn't do either of those just refund his money and resell it.

even if you didnt say whcih one it was and you had pictures of it its his fault....hell even if there where no pictures its his responisbility to contact you and ask if it is Motometer or VDO.

          OH STOP THIS SHIT.....

what is it going to cost you to relist the Item? just put it back up for sale and tell this kid to ship it and you will give him what ever you make from the sale.

or you can leave feed back saying that he is upset since it wont work on his spaceship and wants you to return to his planet with him.

I didn't put VDO/motometer b/c I thought they worked in either type AND I didn't put sold as is b/c this is ebay not wal-mart.

From now on I'll have to put sold as is bla bla bla...

Would it be fair to tell him that I will relist it and if it sells make him ship it THEN refund his money? I don't want to waste money and trash the item by shipping it all over the place.

            EDIT
what is it going to cost you to relist the Item?
            It's not about $ - it's a pain in the ass.

Tell him you're sorry and wish him good luck selling it himself.

I always put big pics in because I wouldn't buy without seeing the item myself.

I think that it's not your responsibility any more. The sale was closed, the item wasn't broken when you shipped it. It's always the buyer's responisbility to make sure it'll work.

You can't buy 5-lug rims and demand a refund because you didn't know your car only takes 4-lug. Too bad, it's his fault. If he leaves neg feedback, report him to eBay...
