just made my first payment online... i'm paying twice the ammount necessary each month since this'll reduce my interest rate by 0.25%... and doing it online reduces it another 0.8%.... that means if i do this every month for the first 12 months, my interest rate will be only 2.37%... daaaaamn sucka 8)

Nope, But by not modding my e30, and cutting back all expenses, I've managed to come close to paying off all of my loans the summer after I take them out. Priorities.Originally posted by PeterCipUNHCLL,

Besides, paying over time builds credit.

Actually, Harvard and most Ivy League skoolz have need based financial aid. That is, they will still load you up with loans no matter what. It's not like they eat filet mignon in the dining hall and drink tea and eat crumpets at 4pm every day. That's UNH. :twisted:Originally posted by Rhymes with Oreoharvard is for RICH sissies ... but usually they stay that way, since most of em are on scholarships..

Barely. It's almost impossible to build credit but very easy to tear it down. Paying a loan off early won't make your credit rating any less than keeping it and making timely payments, in fact it probably makes it better, less debt to income ratio. Same average age of loans, paid off or not. Borrowing money in the first place does help your credit though, funny that.Originally posted by UNHCLL:P Harvard is for sissies.Originally posted by OreoGaborioand i coulda gone to harvard & then some w/ the tuition my parents & i were paying... i could almost pay off the entire loan in one payment as well, but that would leave me flat ass broke

my school (Hartwick College) costs $36K/year and it's nowhere near Harvard-quality. In my opinion, it sucks! That's why I won't be wasting my money here next year. I had take out $13,500 in student loans for just this first year  There's a LOT of schools now that are beginning to cost ridiculous amounts of money, not all of them are Ivy League either.Comment
