No one ever takes a strong, confident stance in his speech. Every sentence (if the statement is fortunate enough to contain a minimum subject and verb) is punctuated with "like," "whatever," "you know," "I don't know," I mean," etc... watch your own speech for a day if you doubt the pervasiveness of the trend.
If one does speak assertively with knowledge of the topic at hand one feels compelled to qualify his statement with explanations of how he had come upon this information (i.e. I saw it on the discovery channel). Otherwise, he is labeled as a "know it all."
Colloquial English is a very subservient and feminine langue, lacking any backbone at all.
