early stages of clear coat failure

alright guys, i'll produce a photo of this tomorrow but in the mean time....the drivers side c-pillar is starting to exhibit clear coat failure. i'm not looking to "fix" this, i just want to stop it from spreading and getting worse. i've heard of using a razor blade to scratch off the bad and 1500/2000 grit wet sand. any ideas?

My c pillars did that as well, I wet sanded with 2000 grit and then buffed the shit out of it. It looks better.. kinda. Its not peeling anymore though, you'll end up sanding a lot off because you've got to sand all the loose clear off. Mine went from a 2 inch area to about 8 inches.

Do this or have some clear sprayed again.

You shouldn't just reclear it - you should sand, repaint, then clear.

You cant really polish the metallic base of a 2 stages paint. Thats why there is clear coat.

Sanding the CC off isn't going to do you a whole lot of good. The only real way to take care of this properly is to respray paint and clear. I'd just do the top of the car if the rest of the paint is in good condition.
