Who's ever used body filler for minor wheel repair?

I have an old set of track wheels, and I was curious to see how it would hold up. Pretty minor rash, just a few 1/8th" - 1/4" nicks. I went a little heavier on the hardener just for experiental sake. We'll see how it holds. Who's done this, and how long did it hold up?

Yea, I was thinking about that, but I remember that stuff not being very sandable. Ive already used the filler, so we'll see!

Filler won't hold up like the jb weld will. You just gotta know how to lay it on.

But is it sandable, or will it gum up?

Im confident that i can minimize the smoothing pretty well, but it needs to be sanded no matter what.

The bondo job looks immaculate, but im figuring it wont last long..

I used Metal Filler sold by Bondo brand. it comes in a tube at pep boys. Held up great and was able to file and sand it down. Wheels looked perfect when i was done and painted them all

When I bought my wheels the lips were rashed so bad could grate cheese off them, I sanded them down, bit of putty for the big gashes then used 3 cans of primer filler on them, paint primer and then paint.

              I rashed one yesterday =(

We used to use it all the time at the tire shop you came into.

ALSO used all the time by car dealerships to touch up knicked wheels on trade-in cars. We have the touch-up guys come in with their vans and do the work. Never to repair wheel faults like cracks, only to fix minor curbing. I guess I should ask what material they use before they paint...
