My dad (well, now my) 2000 silverado pickup has some A/C issues. The compressor will randomly turn off while driving. I checked the low side pressure while it was working (~55 psi) then after it had stopped working (switch was still on, truck still on, but blowing warm humid air) and it was greater than 80 psi.
I think this would indicate a faulty compressor (the pressure switch has been replaced recently) but, is there anything I'm overlooking in diagnosing this? Is there a system to regulate the pressure coming out of the compressor? I need it fixed soon- I'm driving it from Phoenix to Corpus Christi, TX tomorrow afternoon/night fixed or not.
