    BMW M8 - re-revealed

The E31 BMW M8 Prototype is arguable one of most valuable concept cars in BMW's portfolio. And it made 640 horsepower in 1990s

The M8-Prototype is perhaps the best-kept secret of BMW and for the first time, BMW has unveiled the on-off car in front of journalists at the BMW Museum in Munich. Despite several false reports in the past, the M8 prototype has not been destroyed by BMW and it still exists in a special facility in Munich.

While our complete and highly detailed story is in works, here are some quick details. The M8 was equipped with a V12 prototype engine based on the S70 engine, producing around 550 horsepower.

Compared to the 850CSi, the M8 prototype was also missing the headlights. The car features dual side vents at the rear wheel.
The M8 prototype also sits on special wheels, but more on the nifty details in the very near future.

For now, please enjoy exclusively, the first live photos of the BMW M8 prototype, shortly followed by videos and a full photo gallery.
I didn't know this existed...god damn that motor is a piece of art!!

There was an article on this car in "BMW CAR" literally MONTHS ago. Those guys are a bit off the ball.

Needless to say, it's an amazing car and it's a shame it never made it to production.

Good god. BMW really needs to make a new 8 series. Less weight, more power, and more visually appealing than the 6 series.

              M8, where headlights are a $4000

Motor looks beastly.... there are other articles floating around saying it will be hybrid in tune with the whole efficiency dynamics movement.

              huge picture

That wouldn't be an 8 series then. Besides, the 8 series was the replacement for the E24 6er, and was replaced with another 6. They are the same segment.

I never really liked the 8er. This car doesn't do too much for me, but the motor and interior kick ass.
