One step closer to the 2.7I!!

Just got back from the machine shop. I dropped off my ported 325i head a couple weeks ago and it was ready today. But when I got there they completly forgot I asked them to grind the valves to so why I stood there they ground all 12 valves even though I had only paid them to do the intake ones. Head was in excellant shape but needs 6 new guids on only the exhuast side as the intake side is perfect. So I have to buy 6 guides, and take the head back in and have them cut the exhuast valve seats and press the new guides. But then the bad news.. When he bruaght the valves back up front he handed me two bags one with the good valves and one with 2 bent intake and 2 bent exhuast valves. Oh well I guese I need 4 new valves. I don't know how they got bent as they don't look bent and dosn't look like they hit the pistons but there bent. But then the good part was the price as it was $12 to clean, $12 to reface the valve seals and $12 to grind the valves :D The machine shop I'm going to isn't a BMW shop but they have been working on engines since 1928 so they know there stuff and do a good job.

So one step down and many more to go. My Euro pistons should be here next week then I'm taking in a big tub of parts in to be hot tanked.

So you're running euro pistons. Like 9.7-9.8 CR? What cam and all that good stuff?

Euro pre 5/85 525e pistons with 11:1 cr ratio so pared with the I head I'll be running 10.1:1 cr ratio :P For now I'm planning on a stock cam but will go with a 282/288 when money allows. Pistons went in the mail last friday from europe so maybe will be here tommorw.
      Standard eta block
      Eta crank
      Eta rods
      525e pistons
      Ported I head
      I intake and exhuast manifold
and Full Motronic 1:3 control with a Hartge copied 2.7 litter chip.(chip is coming with the pistons)
It still won't be untill maybe the end of the summer till the engines together but at least I've made a little progress instaid of just having a big pile of parts in the attic.

yep I'm planiing on 200-205hp at the crank. Hopefully I can get the $500 soon so I can buy all the bearings and gaskets I need for the rebuild. If Only I didn't have to pay $1000 for school this coming semster or buy anyone christmass presents.(only spending a little over $100 but I could at least finish off the head)

which gaskets do you need? I ordered some before I found out I didn't want to rebuild my M20 head, but rather go for M50. I'd like to get them off my hands.
