I was considering changing mine from popout to non popout for theft issues, my driverside had something wrong with it and my friends would walk by it and could open it from the out by pulling it out with their fingers, It would lock but you could still pull it open. pissed me off

I have non pop out windows on my '90 325is, and I want pop out windows. I would be happy to trade with someone, but I would maybe need some advice on how to get mine out! PM me if you are interested.

Yes, it is an easy retrofit if you have all the parts and seals from a popout windowed car. There is also a writeup on the m42 board I think, as all m42'ed e30s didnt have pop outs as they were airbagged 91 cars.

pop outs are a pain in my ass. i have to be a nazi about the passengers closing them when they get out of the car because it does suck to climb back there and close them. also its one more way for moisture to leak in, buts mostly if you drive a dirty like i do...

maybe it's just me being tall...but i can reach my long ass arms all the way to the windows and close them without having to climb back there

For those of you intersted, I've got a pair of pop outs from an '87 325is. The kit includes everything, windows window gasket/seal, hinges and all fasteners. Pics available. PM or e-mail me if interested.
                        Let's go exploring!

I do beleive it was still an option, just didnt come as standard at that point. Early 318's didnt have popouts, well I guess neither did the late models, so no 318's. Hah!

I had an early 318 with pop outs. I liked them around town, but on the interstate they were really loud.

Popouts look ghey. Functionality aside that sums it up.

I've always disliked them and always will. I upgraded my 87 328iS to non-popouts and of course my 91 318iS has no popouts.

My mothers 95 e36 M3 and my 99 e36 M3 both had popout.. and I hated it. I did find when pesky rear seat passengers open them a quick jaunt to about 90 MPH slams them shut with the air pressure flowing over them, ask Joe Funk :)
