There is clearly a cover over the bumper. The cover is red, the bumper is white.

I just checked mine and I have an extra set of side marker wires under my front bumper. So this solves where yours went but we still dont know why there arent holes for the sidemarkers. mines an 88

Just FYI, BMW brought no special edition M3's to the US.

If it really bothers you, I'll trade you bumper covers. My M3 is in Woodstock, VA, so we could meet in the middle. I'll even spray paint mine red for you before we meet up.

My 84 M635csi is kinda the same deal. Side markers on the rear, none on the front. 6ers don't have them on the bumpers, but on the fenders/rear quarter panels. My fathers 85 M635 has the front but not the rears... Conspiracy?

My opinion is that at some point in the factory someone read the build wrong and put on a different bumper cover. The wiring is the strange issue.

It is a win for you as you can buy a euro rear and have something unique!

You gotta remember its a hand built car. Just hope the sidemarker wiring is the only thing they forgot. yikess...

I'd like to know where I can get a replacement for mine for $800.. BMW's list cost is around $1,400 last time I checked.
