Ugh somebody broke into my car.....in my driveway

Well long story somewhat shorter, I had been parking my car in my garage for the past few months, I decided to leave it out in the driveway last night because I was planning to go back out later that night but I ended up going to sleep. I come out this morning an put my key in the door and it spins completly around in the lock cylinder and my door is unlocked. I look inside but nothing is missing...? Now I'm like WTF!!! who breaks the lock but doesn't take anything? Just a few min ago I find out 7 other cars in my neighborhood were broken into via smashed windows and popped door locks. And one car had his wheels stolen and is currently sitting on cinderblocks in his driveway.

Needless to say I'm pissed, now I have to open my door by the trunk. Anyone know where I can get my doors fixed? Does it have to be BMW?

edit: What would be a good alarm system to look into as well

you can order a new cylinder from bmw for ~40 and rebuild it yourself or order one keyed for the car already for ~90iirc its very easy to do yourself

            Good info here--just in case.

How the hell do these bastards get away with stealing the wheels off a car and leaving it on blocks?

Thats what I'm wondering. Only reason they probably didn't take my wheels is because my wheel studs are to long for a tire iron an not many ppl carry deep well sockets around

Somebody did the same thing to my IX this winter... Pisses me off.

I live in a "Historical" neighborhood, but theres a rental across the road from my house and the people who own it rent out to the scum of the earth, who then go about increasing crime in the area.

My house has had 3 attempted break inns from the tenants, they've broken into our cars and our neighbors cars countless times (last time they did over $1500 dollars in damage to our tahoe for a $199 dollar GPS).

Sorry to jack the thread, but i this pisses me off and i needed to rant about something after my damn e36 broke down tonight.

You guys are making me feel uneasy. I usually park in the street.. or half way into my driveway since it's usually taken up and my car is the "least valuable" in the family.

If you get an alarm make sure you dont arm your car and then break the remote to the alarm like i once did :nice:
