I've realized my e30 uses as much prem as a Z06 Vette

^This is very true. I remember I used to always fill all of my cars with premium-- at the time that was a, '87 325es, '97 M3, and an '04 325i. One day all of them were coincidentally empty, so I filled them all. With my wallet getting light, I decided to run regular in the eta. It actually ran a lot better. Makes sense though. -
I get around 29-30 HW mpg matching correct r3vs. Rebuilding the eta m20 helps alot. I miss the hell out of my 91 honda hatchback, 43 mpg HW 32 if I drove like a bat out of hell.Leave a comment:

on the track I figured it was 1 gal every 5 minutes at $10 per gallon, so basically a 30 minute session is $60 in fuel. I am sure at 10:5.1 I can run less than 100 octane, im just scarred to find out.Leave a comment:

I get around 29mpg in my bone stock M20B27 super eta running 87 regular.
I get a consistent 11mpg in my chipped S38B36 e30 running 91 premium. Same as an SRT10 Viper.

Yup, my 86es was far better than my stock 84 Rabbit with 1.8 and a 5 speed. Interesting how that all works out with the gearing and such. Back in HS we were all taught that the smaller the engine was (and the fewer cylinders it has) the better the FE would be. bloody LIARS!!!Leave a comment:

I think a 3.25LSD in a 325i With an M20B25 would make a slight difference. prolly will accelerate a bit slower but will give better mileage.
My 528e was amazing on gas. better than even my 1.6l old civic.Leave a comment:

seriously...dont' bother. i've chased down the fuel consumption problem for years and several hundreds of dollars later I had a smooth running e30 that still consumed considerably more than my old stock 5 speed 325esLeave a comment:

but I have a chip too. I was told that I need to run prem even tho it's a stock m20.
Considering running the stock chip for the first while as the car hasnt' been run in years as a daily driver (so I can run reg gas..as it's slightly cheaper and I have a sapre ECU with the stock chip). Sure I've driven it yearly, but methinks the car needs to be run daily for at least a week or so to get broken in again. I only used ot drive it for a few days a week per year at most.
Considering the purchase price of a vette over the cost the e30's using in fuel, I may as well drive the e30 for another 50 years b4 buying a vette would pay off. Hell, even getting a prius over the e30 isn't economically feasible.Leave a comment:
