Im going to buy my self a camera soon, I dont want the folks to have to shell out for it. My limit is 300 dollars, but pref something closer to 250. I want 3 MP or so, and optical zoom. Some thing small preferably, but I dont mind a bigger one if it makes up for it in features and price. Something pocket size would be nice for school and messing around. I like features like panorama mode, movie mode with sound, stuff like b+w or just cool things like that.
I like photography and I need a better camera for it. So here is what im looking at right now.

Pentax Optio - $280 - I realy like this one. Some cool features, uber slim ect.

Canon S230 - $270 - about the same price, similar features.

Im leaning toward the Pentax, any opinions or others I should look at? Better prices?

I'm getting a Kyocera FineCam SL300R for Christmas. It's really small but does a good job for a point-and-shoot camera. If you want more options like exposure control, black and white you'll probably have to get something a little bigger. Check out www.dpreview.com you can do side by side comparisons of cameras that you are looking at.

I just picked up a Canon Powershot A60 for the girl and DAMN!!! that thing has some features for a affordable camera. It was 199 at best buy, and has all types of features including manual adjustable f-stop (aperture), shutter speed, flash, etc. It also has preset features for moving objects, a picture fusing program that allows you to take 3 pictures to form one big panoramic picture.

It also takes short movie clips as well. It is quite impressive for being so small.

I used to be a HUGE fan of my good 'ole Canon AE1 35mm. That was until i got a hold of the Canon EOS Digital SLR.

My biggest pet peave was a digi cam that took 2 and a half hours before the damn thing took a picture. But, the A60 is awesome for suck a little thing. i love it.
