ah, decisions (e36 M3) Who's parted one out?

My neihbor has a great running, driving 97 M3 coupe-5 speed. Rebuilt title, 80k miles, pretty shoddy body work, near perfect black interior, M contours 6/10 condition, and a cracked rear bumper cover. It just sits in the driveway with a FS sign, so days like today when Im doing some projects at home/paperwork- I have to see this bright yellow thing sitting there, taunting me.
We've spoke about the car before when he wanted 6k.. So Ive been trying to ignore it until today- he comes over and tells me I can have it for 4. I quickly start doing the math in my head while trying to talk to him, and its obviously worth it all added up, but I couldnt justify being out anymore than 1k MAX. Call me cheap, but theres a thing called priorities and i stretch them as it is when it comes to my car hobby.

So all said and done, given the circumstances- Taking away only what I need from it to do a transplant (motor, tranny harness)- What do you think I could squeeze from it? Possibly make my money back while keeping those things?

Buy it. Part eveything but what you need. See how the cash stands then. If you are going to fall behind in $$ sell the stuff you were going to keep and run away with teh cash. If you are in the position you want to be, swap the motor. 4k is cheeeaaap. drive the damn car for that price.

id say that is a little bit too expensive, even at 4k. prices on e36 m3s are steadily falling. a friend of mine bought a very nice condition 99 m3 vert 5-speed with somewhat high miles, but like i said, in otherwise in good condition, for $5700.

the real question is, is it worth your time to part the car out?

She won't hate you if the money comes rolling in. Does it have vaders? That's worth more than the "lux" seats. 325 guys want the mtech bumpers and "twisty" side skirts. 3.23 lsd is worth some $. All the odds and ends. I mean the shell is worth something too. Steering wheel, cluster, dash, misc....it adds up pretty quick. No matter what, a totaled m3 will sell for $4k. That's pretty much the lowest price I've seen them go for...and that's wrecked.

btw I bought my cherry 95 m3 for $5800. But the low miles on the motor for $6k I guess is fair. $4k is a no brainer, get to work part it out. Out here in LA you could sell a twisted up m3 for $4k. They don't fall under that very often.

what shape are the front bumper and side skirts in? I may want them from you, if you decide to buy it.

Say its r3vs fault. If that doesn't work, say its your wife's fault. When that doesn't work, say its too late and the deed has been done.

              Do it!

If you buy it I'll trade you my alpinas with tires for the 5 lug stuff.

Well, you might have to add a little cash on top, considering its just the front stuff I need.

It has black vaders, front bumper and skirts are good. 2500 seems accurate once i take the motor out w/ some odds and ends.

That was random- Im not very familiar with alpinas with tires.

Does the overspray come off? Cash on your end, and you cover shipping both ways, you got a deal. How about that.

Alot of smoke blowing going on but Im pretty set on grabbing it.

4k for a decent condition M3 is a steal, but it may be close on parting it out though. If you want you can PM me and I can tell you more in depth how my part out has gone and possible excpected returns.
