    My E30 makeded me mad.

Driving my e30 home from my girlfriends house and out of nowhere smoke starts coming into the cabin. I immediately pull over. Turned off the car and pop the hood to see the oxygen sensor wiring is scorching red and sparking. Then it stops and cools down. I still hear a whining noise. It didn't click to me for a few seconds and I realized that even with the keys out and the car off the fuel pump was still pushing fuel. So i pulled up the rear seat and disconnected it as fast as I could. Then ran to the trunk and disconnected the battery. I was only two blocks from the house so I pushed it home. There while cutting back the fucking harness. I realized that it didn't go into the c101 but inside the diagnostic port. The 14 and 15 pin were melted together. So now I need to go through my whole harness back into the cabin and trace it allll the way back and hopefully find out what the fuck happened and replace the whole fucking harness.

    FUCKING 318iSHIT...

Now im left with no daily driver, winter approaching, and cant even fully look for a second job because I would have no mode of transportation in between.

Any advice on where to start besides gutting my car all the way to bare metal?

Sounds like you need to borrow a multi-meter from someone and start doing some continuity checks. Hopefully there won't be a "next time", but remember that you can pull the fuel pump relay to kill it.

Look for sections of the harness that have been tapped into (like for an aftermarket radio, alarm, ejector seat, etc.). That's usually the first place I start, because it's an easy obvious potential cause for this sort of issue. These cars have a pretty damn good electrical system, and it's not common for wires to just short out and melt down like that on their own. It's not un-heard of either.. Good luck!

edit: I had to mention that I had a hard time not laughing as I was reading your post. You seem so angry! I hate that it is as entertaining as it is.. That's probably a bad thing. Calm down and you'll get it sorted out.

Yea I know. it sounds funny worst part of it was that as this was just finishing happening. I grabbed my phone to call my local e30 guru.... My phone started saying that it was in airplane mode and no service and all of this psycho shit. As if the whole car zapped my phone or something..............

But I purchased the car from the original owner. The only things added after market were the radio and a strut bar..... which actually sits millimeters away from the 3 relays on the firewall. And I checked and all the fuses were fine which is what pissed me off more than anything.

Try to keep your thread titles a little more not-so-profanity-laden. Went ahead and took care of that for you.

How did your fuel pump continually push fuel? It should push until it gets up to pressure and then the pump stops automatically...even when 12v remains active to the pump.

Well I believe it was still pushing fuel because you heard a quiet whine noise in the engine bay and when i got to the fuel pump the car was off. battery still in the car. but the only way to turn the fuel pump off was to unplug it. I tried to get a quick look at it last night and started cutting the wrap back. and part of the wires that were scorched were to to the cabin and the other to the diagnostic port. I havent done anything electrical besides a fuel pump when I got the car and a radio.

And well mr mango. It is infact possible to have it done by monday but I have work as well as other obligations that right now this will be done whenever I get a chance to. And secondly if Im rewiring it Ima do it all right and once and find out wtf happened to ensure it wont happen again.
