I saw two e30s at Waterford Hills on open track day. One was white the other was red. I didn't notice they were there until they were on the track in the advanced group. These two e30 were going around so fast I just knew they had motor swaps. Nether sounded like a tradition e30. I could hardly wait to ask the guys which swaps they had. I first asked the white e30 driver and to my utter surprise, he told me he had a stock 2.7! I could not believe a 325e could go around the track so fast! He did have lowered suspension, race tires, and lsd but I was still impressed.
Next I looked at the rear of the red e30 because he was still badged and it read 325IX. I never seen an IX race on a road course so I assumed he was swapped. To my surprise again he wasn't swapped either.
I sold my e30 335 months ago and never had the pleasure of tracking it. I've been on a hunt for an e36 or a 318ti to track every since I bought my son an e36. After witnessing these two e30s, I may be going back to one and keeping the original power plant.
I race my 911 but it's been getting very expensive to maintain.

This poor guy rolled right at the above pic were the Miata is (opps S2000) fixed
