Gas gauge is broken.. help me please!

So I had some issues with my fuel pump a while back, i blew the fuse in the line thats located in the trunk. But before i knew that was the problem my dad and i were trying to figure out what the deal was, and while i was at work my dad pulled out the gas gauge float to check that. Now i don't know if he damaged it in the process but the low fuel light is always on now and no matter how much gas i put in my car its always floating around a half tank, give or take a few gallons on each side.

I pulled the float back out, it all looked clean and okay to me, i pulled my positive cord off my battery to reset the computer thinking that something was just thrown off. I don't know why it doesn't work anymore when it did before... Is this a common issue? Not sure if i made all that completely clear but any help is appreciated i'd really like to get it working again since my odometer is frozen as well so i have no way to tell how much gas im using haha

not sure what you mean by checking my cluster, but i'll look through my fuse box for a broken one.. It's just a pain in the ass not knowing which fuse it is since there's like 50 of them haha

there is a ground on the back of the cluster for the fuel gauge, hex nut, tighten it up. It loosens for some people, mine included. works great after tightening it.
