    Looking to join the community

    Hey all,

Right now I'm driving a 2001 mustang gt. Its time for a change for me, and in thinking an e30 is the car for me. I need a cart that's a bit more civilized and doesn't rattle to pieces. I'M going to sell my mustang or trade for an e30 in the near future.

So I am wondering, what should I know about these cars? I'm looking to learn about what they are good at, why they suck sometimes, common issues

Also knowing that the likelihood of me getting a swapped car isn't great, so I'll be dealing with a stock engine. It will obviously be a downgrade from the 4.6, how slow are these cars? Is it a pain in the ass to accelerate on the highway?

I'm interested to great your thoughts, especially if any of you have fine from a mustang to an e30.

Search for "buyers guide" should get you a decent start. There are hundreds of threads covering what to look for. The e30 will definitely be a lot slower than the mustang. Do you wrench? You'll need to be able to work on your car or have a good cash flow to pay someone. Overall they are very reliable engines - mine went to 330k before it was stolen.

The m20 subforum will give you a good rundown of common and uncommon issues with the engine.

This site has a ton of information, I'd just spend a good amount of time searching keywords and doing some research.

    Welcome to the e30 community!
