Bear/bare? with me, this is more of a rant.
I know this probably goes in a specific electrical section, but im pulling my hair out with this issue.
Car does not start up when the car is hot, sometimes not even a click at the starter. To say that i double checked everything is a bit of an understatement, terminals and connectors at the battery are beyond clean. I have the little brush, ive used baking soda and water and washer the terminals off....and i still get the green "algae" at the positive terminal within a couple of days. I am frustrated when i get told to clean the terminals. Even when they are cleaned properly, the car still doesnt start.
It has now gotten so bad that it wont start up when its cool outside either. They have never been overtightened.
A little history, battery has always been about 12.5v, i didnt drive the car for a week and it is now 11.2v. The only thing that draws off the battery is the headunit which is so miniscule, there is no OBC, no nothing, everything has been removed. When i jump pins 11 and 14, to bump the starter with the key in position 2, it does start. Yesterday i went to do that when it wouldnt start and everything shut off, even the ICV wasnt buzzing. Even a push start wasnt sufficient, a jump was needed.
I realize that the algae is the battery venting, but i have never had this problem before, and reading on the internets suggests it is common. It SHOULDNT be however, correct? I highly doubt new batteries would do this. The battery is from 2007.
I am not new to mechanics by far but this is driving me insane, i am so broke its not even funny. I do have enough to buy a new battery but am thinking this is my only solution.
I have replaced the cable going from that positive junction on the firewall to the starter a few months back just to have new cables and grounds.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
