    Intercooler Spray?

My brother just bought a subaru STI and he put an "intercooler spray" in it, which will cool down the motor rapidly with the push of a button if youre "beating" on your car. Has anyone seen this in an e30?

i know someone that routed their windshield sprayer to spray their e30's radiator lol.

      besides that, no.
e30s don't have intercoolers. they're only used on cars with turbos (aka your brother's sti)

        Sometimes turbo e30s have intercoolers

I'm pretty sure the Subaru WRX has it because they're fitted with a top mount intercooler, and you use it (or is it automatic?) to prevent heat soaking when driving in traffic as the heat from the engine warms up the intercooler.

vehicles with front mounted intercoolers don't have this problem (as to the same extent)

There is no reason why you couldn't marry up some washer jet bits with an extra washer motor and nozzles to spray an intercooler fitted to a Turbo E30.

you should make sure that you fill the bottle (or whatever) with washer fluid and distilled water or just distilled water. this will cut down on corrosion that can build up on the intercooler. the washer fluid has alcohol in it which will work as a better heat exchanger.

you can also use nitros to freeze the intercooler before a run for a better initial charge temp drop.

really though with a properly designed and sized intercooler, you would only need this to prevent heat soak when you were sitting for long periods of time with little to no air flow over the intercoolerm

They also add Nazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sprayers to the front of IC's. I think that's more for show.

I bet the water would well. Water has an amazing amount of cooling capacity. And it's sticky - unlike nos.

another thing you can do is remove the IC, carefully fill it with gas and let it soak for about 45 min. then carefully dump out the gas and flush with water.
then dump 2 bottles of rubbing alcohol in it, swish it around, dump it and let it dry. this will help carry out any left over water. let sit and dry and reinstall.

over time oil vapors get trapped in the IC along with some dirt and coat the inside of the IC, lowering it's efficency.

you'd be supprised just how much doing this will effect your charge temps.

Im thinking about routing a washer nozzle to my ac condenser for those extra hot summer dayz.

Thats a good idea! However, you may want to think about adding some coolant to that for some extra cooling effect!
