    Wide format inkjet/photo printers

    Okay computer peeps.

I've been out of the consumer printer market for a while, resigning myself mostly to small office size B&W laser printers. I've decided to pick up an inkjet again, mostly for graphic/photo usage. I figure if I'm gonna spend the cash for a decent inkjet, I'm gonna go for something that can do 13x19 and 11x18 prints.

Right now I'm jonesing for Canon I9900, mainly for the 8 seperate tank setup, but I've also been looking at the HP 9650 photo printer. Third choice is the HP 9300, it's ~250 bucks and I like the old 45a/78a print cartridge combo.

Anyone got any experience with these units?

Every Canon product I've ever owned, including 2 inkjets, have had reliability issues. I'd go for the HP based just on that.

Ditto. I have never had a problem with HP or Lexmark.

HP have great reputations for reliability, they are more noisy than other inkjets. I have also had very good luck with epson but you probably wont find any wide format epson printers.

Oh, there's two excellent wide format epson's, the 1500 series and the 2600 series. The 2600's are great, but also 7-800 bucks.

I've basically talked myself into the HP 9300 for now, and splurging on a nice dye sub for hardcore photo usage later.
