If you had to replace your e30 with something else, what would it be?
Hmm, this question raises a lot of ethical and philisophical concerns. If I had to replace my e30? As in, due to uncontrollable circumstances? As in, it was totalled? Or suddenly the Nazi party rose again in Germany, and all German vehicles were made illegal in the US? Hmm.
Or if I just felt like replacing it cuz I was bored?
Well, let's see.
Scenario 1: My e30 was totalled, and I wish to replace it with another car that was equally as classic, sporty, yet reliable as a daily driver.

-e28, 535is
-Mk II Scirocco, Wolfsburg edition
Scenario 2: I came into a mass disposable income and can afford any car I want.
-Delorean, Stage II upgrade
-e9
-Any Aston Martin, Alfa, or Maserati
-'63 Beetle
Scenario 3: I decide to give up this lifestyle choice of maintaining a classic car so girls will like me, take the practical route, start a family, and finance a new car that's safe, sensible, reliable, yet still a little stylish and sporty:
-Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen TDI
-Audi A3 TDI
-'08-'09 Subaru Outback 2.5XT (I hate the '10's)
Scenario 4: I still have an affinity for maintaining old cars, but instead of sports cars, I change my tune for All Terrain Vehicles. Good for camping, beach hopping, hiking, etc.
-Subaru Brat
-'89-ish Jeep Wrangler Renegade (square headlights)
-Mitsubishi Mighty Max

The only other car I was thinking I would buy besides keeping my e30 was a used 2008 STi hatch. This car is actually attainable - Lancia Integrale a bit more difficult.

If you're Canada, they can be found. I was at a local speed shop (Charles Hammer Group) and came across one in the showroom. He told me he had 3 of them. I then noticed a couple come up on BringaTrailer.com available in Canada.
You're getting close to the 25 year exemption so you can probably get one in a few years.
Well, Porsche was using a MFI (mechanical fuel injection) system on the production 2.4 liter motors in 1973 but in late 1973 they began using Bosch CIS (continuous fuel injection) on the magnesium-cased 2.7 liter engines. Here's an overview of the topic....
"Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed."
Funny you say that as I sold my WRX and then bought my e30.
Funny, but I basically did the same thing. I bought my Evo VIII back in 2003 and I thought for sure that would be the end of the E30. After a few years, I realized that the E30 was more fun to drive and it came back out of storage. I ended up selling the Evo VIII and keeping the E30.
Unless I needed to get rid of it to accommodate a larger family, then it would be either an Audi A5 Avant or a MINI Countryman to pair with our classic Mini.
