Wow Tom, that is a lot more damage than I thought, judging from what you had told us. I'm leaning toward what Jordan said, the cost the fix that is going to outweigh the cost/monetary worth of the car by at least twice, if not more. You've got a lot to think about, decide wisely.Comment

It would probably be worth looking into getting a straight shell. The interior is still great, and 75% of what you paid for the car was because of the engine.
People have mentioned parting it out, however, if you keep the entire engine and interior there really isnt much to part out...Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.Comment

right, I have been doing alot of thinking about getting a shell and swapping everything over. Considering The suspension is all aftermarket, the motor is brand new, the tranny is in great condition, so is the lsd. The interior is sweet.... So prettty much i need to locate a straight shell..
My only problem with that is, I have very few tools, not enough experience to do most of the work, no where to do the work, no jack, no lift, and pretty much no help.Comment

I agree totally with Ken. Buy a straight shell of a pre-facelft E30, and swap everything from that car onto it. Then not only do you not have to worry about a respray (maybe), but you won't have to worry about the holes from federalization, and I'm sure there are many other things that would just make it a lot easier than spending a RIDICULOUS amount of money (because that's what it will be) to repair the body damage on that shell.Originally posted by kencopperwheatIt would probably be worth looking into getting a straight shell. Dude, you are forgetting the at least 20 people, including myself, that live in less than a day's driving distance from you. I'd be there in a heartbeat to help you, with every tool and shred of knowledge I have.Originally posted by MotMy only problem with that is, I have very few tools, not enough experience to do most of the work, no where to do the work, no jack, no lift, and pretty much no help.Comment

Save youself the trouble man. As much as it sucks, taking that thing off the road is the right choice. Swapping everything in to another sheel sems like a great idea to me!Comment

Tom, you know how I felt about that car. It is probably the oldest e30 in the USA. Show me another 83, anybody! But, if you need to swap it to another shell, I will sell you the white one I got from Jordan for less than I would sell a perfect quarter for. Carefully removing a used quarter is a royal pain. It takes a very talented bodyman to change it so it looks original. Looking forward to a happy ending. FYI, there is suspension damage to the left trailing arm. Camber is way off. RIP or reborn again, that is the question.

I think the best solution would be to sell it back to David for whatever he might be willing to give you. He could then have yet another parts car , or rebody it himself.
I knew it was a bad idea for you to get the car.Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast

I agree . It appears to have way too much positive camber .Originally posted by oh2flyFYI, there is suspension damage to the left trailing arm.
Something is definitely tweaked back there .
You should not even bother with the bodyshop quote , its sure to be quite a large sum , hook-up or not .
Seems like finding a suitable shell would be the way to go .Comment
