My e30 caught on fire :(

Hmm.. Do I see pavement thru the floorpan? To me it clearly indicates major rust issues. Which defines a rustbucket as it is not just surface rust but major weakening of the structure. Just because the paint is shinny on top dosn't mean the car is solid.

The car is so rusted underneath, I wouldn't call it clean by any mean. Rustbucket is more appropriate. I have junked e30s for less than that.



I would also look at the cat having no heatshield on top, and being inches away from exposed foam padding without any protection in between. I can't believe the car was even driven with such a hole in the foorpan. BTW It most likely is time to part that car if the rest of the body is like the floorpan.

If I were the insurance company, I'd want to have a look at the car first.

Actually the car is not so rusted underneath. And you have never seen my car in person to say that it is a rustbucket. And the cat did have a heatshield on top. And yeah its inches away but about 10 inches away from the damaged area. And there was no exposed padding.

Honestly i dont know what the fuck your trying to say or thinking. There was no soft spot in the floor and definitely no hole in the floor before the fire happened. A tiny bit of rust in the floor pan maybe ,a hole or soft spot definitely not. I love how people take a look at a few pictures and make complete assumptions. I have had this car a rack 3 times in the past 3 months(tires, oil change, motor mounts, and other things) I would have noticed a hole in the floor pan and or A shit ton of rust. In fact i didnt notice any rust. Btw i see your from Montreal where there is a lot of bad weather /salt so i am sure your use to rust. I am in Tennessee and we are fortunate not to have to worry about rust as much, it does happen tho. Thanks for your opinions on what happened but i have to disagree strongly with you

I would recommend looking at the newly installed Cat as the cause. It could be restricting the exhaust causing it to get much hotter.

Yeah i didnt explain that fully. Basically meant if i am at fault it doesnt cover me. But i am covered on theft fire all that just not if i hit someone.

Maybe he has comprehensive but no collision? Odd but possible. You have to have comp to have collision but you can have just comp, that's okay. My insurance person strong armed me into getting "limited comprehensive" once even though I really didn't want it, extra $200 a year for fire, theft, glass. Day before I put her away for the winter and cancelled that policy I got the windshield replaced cuz of a small chip, so it all worked itself out :)

not that bad actually. i cant remember the numbers but defiantly worth it. I dont have full coverage tho. If i hit someone it pays for there stuff but not mine...basically anything that im at fault is on me..

That sounds like you have liability only with no comprehensive and would explain the no deductible

I had the same setup for my Chevy Venture fortunately when I got struck by a lightning on the highway. I was 9 hours from home. The insurance paid for the repairs (around $1500 in electrical stuff) and a rental car that I used for two weeks. The rental people couldn't believe I didn't have any deductible when renting the car, they said they never saw such thing:D
I had this setup for 3 months, around $340 a month. Well worth it:D
