There is nothing M about your e30. What you are doing is called reaching. If you owned atleast an M-technic or appearance, you can get away with it. In other words, you have to earn it like a Dinan badge. That's coming from someone that owns an E46 M3, E30 M-tech II appearance, E30 M-tech II and E38. That's like putting an M badge on my E38, and that would be reaching.

Now you see that there is a split amongst the forum on whether or not it's acceptable. With that said, it's up to you whether you feel comfortable with knowing the perception it gives off. There will always be that doubt in the back of your mind when you roll up to a meet whether or not people are shaking their heads, or simply saying "its his car" ;)

You've earned it, not the car. Big difference. Remember, this is an opinion shared by many...its neither right nor wrong. But if you can live with the fact that it is frowned upon, then it's entirely up to you.

err.. No, it's not. By that logic Swapping an S50 into an e30 is the same as putting an "M-Power" Sticker on it.
Do you think its corny when you see a bone stock civic with
                          -BBS

Stickered on the door/windshield/fender/hood etc.. ?

You've already got a legitimate M on the other car, so why misidentify your stock ix?

                          That's just my opinion..

Buy a M polo or hat if you are an M enthusiast, but dont put an M badge on a car that has no M parts. The fact you have an M3 has no bearing whatsoever. I have a chevy and a BMW, Im gonna put some roundels on my pickup because I own a BMW... Can you say tool shed.

Some cars came from the factory with the motorsport badge.
