    Tight or loose...

Picked up a parts car today. 85 eta with 198k on the clock.

Gears feel insanely tight (in a good way) and shifts really smooth. Said they put a recent tranny in. What makes it so tight? I rebuilt my shifter ass'y and it felt nothing like this. Is it the tranny itself?

Also noticed the shift pattern was higher and more right than it should be...thoughts?

if you put in all the bushings then i will be really tight and feel perfect. I bet that is what they did when they put the new tranny in.

But I did that, and it helped, but not this much. This thing feels like a direct drive shifting tranny instead of a linkage system.

On which car? The one with the tight shifting, or mine?

I'll go ahead and assume you mean that the other car's is rusted, making it a tighter shift. Man, I wish I could rust mine then... :)
