29.98 for jack, 2 jackstands, and a creeper at pep boys....

got the whole kit at pep boys for that price, its some really shitty unknown brand but as long as it does the job...not like its gonna get mounted on my trunk, anyways...is this sufficient for the job? its rated at 2tons, im planning on lifting the tranny with it later to put in a new bushing for the shift lever

      Quoted for truth.

The jack is garbage, about the worst you can buy. it will break on you without warning. The all do.

Jackstands are for the most part jackstands. fancy ones are nice, but basic ones do the job.

Cheap creepers are not worth while. The rollers are crap, bind up on any imperfection in the surface, and will stop rolling/fall off.

you dont have to get a 200+ dollar alum. 2 pump race jack, but get something a little better. go to sears and see what they got, or harbor freight. i picked up a 2 ton al. racing jack on sale at sears for 80 bucks a few weeks back.

I got that same $30 kit a while back and the jack is just awful. It doesn't even jack my e30 high enough to get it on jackstands. And at its maximum height, it leaks and slowly falls.

                        Jack stands are relatively inexpensive.

i agree, its great price but as everyone else suggests ..don't go under the car w-out proper support.. its probably worth it to keep as an extra jack to help with tire rotations or jacking the motor/tranny ..

Craftsman jackstands are like $20 bucks. I wouldn't go cheap on safety, but hey thats me.

I use the same race-jack that e30sd has, it rocks all that can be rocked. If you want to save some change they make an all-steel version for less as long as you arent transporting it to the paddocks or anything.

As for jack stands, I went overboard because I wanted the flat saddle that would work with a soft peice of wood to spare my undercoating and frame rails (plus they go freakin high), they are jackstands for forklifts and are available at a forklift repair place:

These arent nessecary though, the $30 ones arent deathtraps.

As for creepers, well, I have a nice one but never use it. It fucking rolls around when I want leverage and the casters always find shit that is on the ground. Ive thought about the sweepers but it doesnt solve the leverage problem.
                              Im now E30less.
