    Car won't start this morning!!!!

:hitler: Its been running great till this morning, I went to start it and got nothing just a couple of clicks and thats it, everything lights up fine. Checked all connections, everything seemed fine. The battery does look old and looks somewhat corroded... I'm going to try and jump start it later when I get back home but any of you guys got any ideas?

Check alternator by jumping it and disconnecting the battery. If it runs, alternator is good and the battery is bad.

Battery light on while driving? ..or is that bulb burn out

Check the alternators carbon brushes/voltage regulator before you go drop $200 on a new one

Why did you buy a new battery before trying to figure out what the problem was? You should have checked the alternator first. Your old battery was probably fine, what a waste of $100 bucks.

Will e30s run without the battery hooked up? Some cars won't even if the alternators good. Just hold a volt meter on the battery and have someone start the car, the battery should drop to about 9-10 volts under cranking then come back up to around 13, if it does not come back up its your alternator. If it drops below 8.8v you bought a bad battery.

If it looks old and he does not know the last time one was put in, it wasn't a waste of money at all, they only last about 4 years.

Yep, you're right. But I don't think he said anything about how old the battery was. :) The alternator is probably super old too.

The old batter was all corroded and looked to be leaking, so trust me that battery had to go anyway.
