Cats have to be hot. Check in ask them how long until its your turn and keep driving it around the block in a low gear, pull right into the bay and get it tested. Thats how I got my car to pass.

Drive her hard before you take her in and get that cat HOT. Ideally you'd like to turn in the the smog station and pull right up on the dyno with no letting the car sit. Plugs, wires, new oil, good O2 are always plusses as well, but I've gotten some pretty rickety cars with some pretty rickety cats to pass by just driving the shit out of them for a while before taking it in.

Thanks, I'll replace the 02 sensor and the fan clutch and then get the cat converter nice and hot before bringing it in for a retest.
