    Rev problem

im having a problem with my 90 325i where it revs to roughly 5200 rpms then cuts out like its hitting a rev limiter. it occasionally wont cut out and will rev the full 6500. any ideas?

ive replaced the fuel pump and filter, the MAF, new cam sensor and spark plug wires.

Clean your idle control valve? Check throttle position sensor?

the TPS is a on-off-on switch, unless he's at WOT when this happens, i doubt that's the issue. the ICV only does it's job at idle, allowing air to pass by the throttle butterfly, i don't think that's it either. have you checked your grounds, or for fault codes?

thats right about the TPS and ive already tested that just not at full throttle. this problem does occur when im WOT so that could possibly be the case

You're sure that the tach isn't just sticking at 5200 while the engine actually revs all the way?
