    In need of direction

So I'm torn between a car, a project and which one to pull the trigger on.

I had a 325i a few years ago that I would call my "new to e30's" car. Learned how to drive it, did track days and learned "performance" driving in it, researched parts and plotted out a build. I drove other peoples e30's, both lightly and heavily modified to compare and contrast. I made friends with some pro-3 racers and drove their track prepared cars for a few laps and got an idea of how far, performance wise, one can take these cars.

Then I sold it to a guy that wanted another car for next year's racing season and now my first e30 is a built pro-3 car.

So I bought a second e30, a 325is....my current ride. This time I started to do stuff to it. Billies and HR, put it on a diet, had the back half of a pro-3 cage custom built and welded in. VAC RSIkit, kirkey seat and Schroth 6pt belt. 95M3 rack, welded/reinfoced subframes that I had sprayed with bed-liner....they look bitchin. bought everything AKG sells for it. I was going for top performance with my build vision. I have had countless calls and conversations with muzzi motorsport and Intrax suspension, the techs at bimmerworld, vac, metric mechanic, performance gearing, massive lee just to name a few. I really researched how to build one hell of a solid car. The goal being solid, track performance with a fully upholstered interior, radio and sound deadening.

Thats how my car sits now, a garage filled with a custom built diff, bushings, a trans all taken apart, struts that have been metal dipped and prepped for GC work...tons of parts on the ground and research in my head, an idea of a finished product.

Then a 2002 fell into my lap for $700...I figured it was crap, but after putting it on a lift, its great, clean, runs, not nearly enough rust to concern me. Long story how I found it, but I did and scored.

So now I'm torn. My second e30 and I still haven't really done anything with it. I feel like I never really gave my cars a chance. I got a step closer with the parts and prep...but I've driven these cars in all levels of progress and build, I feel I know what the finished product will feel like and look like. If I were to do the 02, it would be in the same fashion as my current project, all the function and all the form.

Its like being in a committed relationship, you can check out the menu, just be sure you're home for dinner. But now I'm feeling burned out on the e30 thing and think an 02 would be a more interesting avenue to travel down.

    Thoughts?

Personally as much as i love my e30 i think an 2002 built in the direction your wanting to take it would be an amazingly fun nostalgic racer.

Tough pick, I would love a well built 02, it's on my list after I do an e30 build. I If you're willing to be patient, I would do the 02 first and build the e30 second.

Why not build the e30 and DD the 2002?
If you already have the parts for the e30, it'd be stupid to try and sell it all for a loss just to switch platforms...

Keep the E30 as a track car, and make an interesting street rod out of the 02.

I saw build the 02 as a dd and keep the e30 for a track car like the others said.

2002's cannot be fun to daily.

My buddies rabbit was terrible as a daily as was his beetle.

Chris, I say you stick to the thirty. Finish it, that alone will be more satisfying than chasing that '02 tail.

After the thirty is done restore the '02.

                      Thats my .02

                      (lol)
