what does this sound like to you?

I was driving my car to work today, when all of the sudden there was a dramatic loss in power. it was hesitating and miss firing all over hell, i pulled over to inspect it, and the car idled perfectly fine. However a little rubber gasket, used to hold on my cherry bomb tail was smoking, suggesting that i had a very hot exhaust gas temp.

what does the problem to this sound like?

My diagnosis was is a failed Throttle position sensor.

Too lazy to read everyone's response, but I think it's your coil.

I'm surprised no one brought up the coil. I would start by checking it.
