Does anyone know specifically the difference in mufflers?

I have a customer in Hawaii with a 3/87 325i cabrio.
Im trying to get him an eberspacher cat back but all that is avail is post 9/87 aftermarket. does anyone know the specific change at 9/87 and if we can get this one to work? At first I thought it may just be rear valance clearance on the face lift cars but not being an expert on cabrios Im not sure they got the lower valance

Cabs didn't have a face lift until 9/90 or 1991

I am not sure what the difference would be on the mufflers; I have but my 1990 on my 87 and vise verse with no issues.

took the exhaust off my 87 vert and put it on my 84 323, it worked fine.
