Here is some stuff about the Lada VFTS.
The acronym stands for ВЕЛЬНЮССКАЯ ФАБРИКА ТРАНСПОРТНЫХ СРЕДСТВor Vilnius Fabrik Tuning Sport.
These Ladas have 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engines with double Weber carburetors producing 160 hp. They replaced some of the extremely thick and heavy (and heavy duty) body panels with aluminum ones (the body panels on the mass produced versions are made from thicker steel than the ones on the Fiats that these were licensed after to accommodate Russian weather conditions). They have factory roll cages and plexiglass windows and widened fenders.
They are also RWD with limited slip differentials.
The whole car weighs 950 kg, and the engine revs to 8000 rpm. With around 160 hp, this isn't bad at all I don't think from a 1.6 liter 4-banger from the '70s.
                  It has to be fun.

                              That car above is awsome!!

We actually had lada's here in Canada - my brother had one, I learned how to drive with it. They're fun little cars, basically a re-badged Fiat. Boxy, but good. Rusted before your eyes, though.
