    318i conversion info

ok, i have looked. I have a 89 325i(wrecked). I want to upgrade both front and rear brakes on my 84 318i using the parts from the 325i. I cant find a complete write up on doing this swap. I am mostly concerned about master cylinder, abs etc, I just need to find complete in depth info on this conversion along with a list of all parts i need to swap. the 325i has to go in the next month as we are moving and i want to make sure i get everything i need.

Go to an auto parts store and buy a roll of brake line, get a brake flaring kit too. Then swap the trailing arms out from the 325i to the 318. Then take some male end brake thread ons to hook up the new rear lines.

That should take care of everything. I personally would drop the whole rear subframe. It would make swapping everything SUPER fast.

Good luck, it is not a hard task at all.

master cyl is different, apparently, for drum vs disc.

for the front, I've heard you can use the calipers from the 318 as long as you use the brackets and rotors from the 325. don't forget the front strut housing is larger.

you don't need any roll of brake lines ??????
it is all direct bolt on.-- maybe the adding of ABS on a car that has no ABS is a bit of extra work, but going to vented front and disc rear is all bolt on stuff.
