what's the difference with a 91 vs 48 battery for our cars? Notice one has 700CCA and other 690CCA, but $30 difference. My car is dead and need a recommendation ASAP. thanks

Try and find a DECA if you can. Either size is OK for SoCal, it does not get cold there.

Like I said, it doesn't get cold...
Seriously, CCA ratings are just that: "Cold" cranking amps. If you are gonna live where it gets COLD (near zero for a week at a time or more) worry about it.
