my buddy has a 97 2.0T saab, "slightly modded" from what I can tell:
pos
handles like horse drawn carriage
horrible seat positions
awful convex steering wheel
stupid key in center console
uglier than amc pacer
But,
booooooooooosttttt
blowing away rice boys in dsms: makes up for everything
Does anybody know anything about Saabs? (or recommendations for a 2nd car)

Yea, like 10 guitars at once. Forester. Plus, why put 1,400 miles on the e30 once a month going up to Humbolt?Leave a comment:

A friend of mine now has over 200k in a 95 Accord with zero issues. Like the other guy said, change the fluid on a regular basis and you're golden. Also, take into account that the Accord will be 10x easier to sell than a Saab. Not to mention it'll hold it's value better as well.Leave a comment:

I don't know what you're talking about. I can fit my 2x 10" sub box, amp, clothes, duffel bag, blankets, a few pairs of boots & shoes, motor oil, coolant, toolbox, and 144 beers in the trunk.
Although, I suppose I'd have trouble fitting guitars in there. touring +1Leave a comment:

Even though I'm a fan of both Saabs and Subarus, that 9-2 just rubs me the wrong way. It's as if GM was trying so hard to save the brand so they begged Subaru for the impreza and slapped on some Saab badges. Still, it's not as bad as the SUV Saab that's also a GMC.
But today we've discussed our options and i pretty much talked her out of Saab. It was easy, considering i told her we could get an e30 vert.
Still, I would consider e28's and e24's as well.
We are also still considering a Forester, not for the AWD, but the cargo space. I will be working with a guitar company based in Humbolt county and may have to make frequent trips up and down the coast to pick up multiple guitars. Not much trunk space in the e30. i would honestly get:
- Volvo
- Honda
- Another e30
all of these cars are abundant in the junkyards down here, really easy to work on and easy to find. there's not much need for AWD out here (subaru) and id stick to something you know how to work on and one where parts are easily accessible.
welcome to pretty much no rust thoe :)Leave a comment:

haha. I totally agree with you. (I can't believe I'm saying this...)
Resume hating you after this post.Leave a comment:

Early 6cyl honda/acura J series engines were more prone to transmission issues if the fluid wasn't changed at the scheduled intervals.
If I recall correctly there is a filter inside and if it starts to clog up and not do it's job then it wears down the clutch packs prematurely. Cars with properly changed transmission fluid didn't have a problem.
Something like that. I'm not transmission guru. There was this uber nerd on my old accord forum that got way into it.Leave a comment:

you mean a sabaru? If you're going swedish get a volvo...saabs are pretty known to have a very soft chassis and a dumb amount of torque steer...ask me how i know.. there brakes are also the same as an e30s...only the car weights 3200lbsLeave a comment:

I'd recommend a Saab 9-2x :D
Good AWD, decent power, plenty of room for stuff.Leave a comment:

I love how everyone talks about the E30 like its super reliable.
...Except for central locking, all of the interior, check control, gauge cluster, engine idle, auto trans, etc, etc, etc.
It's a 20 year old car. Most of the bad ones are in the junkyard by now. If it's kept up, the Saabs are a very decent car. Gotta make the woman happy....Leave a comment:
