I don't know why you are so against this? This stuff does not weight a ton either.... this isn't an e34/e32/e39+ setup
This entire thread went way off tangent. I needed heat, i had access to some lexan, a heater core, some hoses, and could get some fans, I figured its worth a try.

My major mistake was not putting in the first post "Or if you have any helpful advice comments please discuss". Instead i got a bunch of bashing.

The box bolts up with 4 nuts to the firewall opening, the heater core has two pipes/hoses through the firewall, there is ONE electrical plug that connects near the steering shaft, and if it's cut fine, splice 12 volt and make your own on/off switch for the fan, at least re-use the stock heater/fan box that WORKS and FITS the car. If you don't like or want the very simple MANUAL cable controls, skip it as well.

You are making it sound it sound like the e30 heater box is microprocessor controlled.... it's not. And they are what $50 at your local junk yard?
    Im listening.

I only want on and off operation, and no HVAC panel. I would just run the vent up to the windshield and then to the footwells.

My worries is the whole dash harness wiring that I pulled (but didnt get rid of). Could I wire the blower fan for just on/off or maybe use a different speed controller.

I've removed mine originally and it sucked came winter, I quickly put another one in with new gaskets to make it as efficient as possible. It really isn't a complicated setup, nor is it expensive. It bolts up, you don't have to re-invent the wheel, and it basically works?!

It just doesn't make sense imho to half ass something when the end result will be "ok" if that, since another function of the box/fan is to also de-fog the front windshield or you'll be wiping the damn thing with a rag or have your girl do it and never ever ride in your car again ...
    Cost and simplicity.

Unless anyone here has started with a gutted car and had to warm it up a little shut the fuck up about making the stock unit work.

RC motors arent a great idea becuase you need to adapt them into some sort of fan and mounting system/housing. Easier to buy something premade.

Just run a chimney out the side somewhere, and it's all good.

ive never heard of those before, that seems pretty nifty
