Calypso? I really liked my e34 535i, I would have kept it if it hadn't been an auto and I didn't really feel like swapping to manual.

I love the e34 chassis. But I despise the central electronic module... Urghhh.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Nice find, M30 5 speed. Great color too! We are kinda on the hunt for one now for my wife. I already have one, a Lachs on Gray M20 auto car...the slowest E34 in North America!

Do you have much experience with E34s? Have you put may miles on them? I worked on 4 or 5 a week, every week, for about 2 years when they were new. All levels, too: 525 in M20 and M50, 535, M5 including just what you are talking about building, a boosted M30 5 speed (this one built by Steve Dinan himself).

You will be blown away with the torque of just a stock motor...these cars done well just feel like a Bruiser...just the Luxury version. I could totally envision a boosted 4.4 V8 in one....jeebus, you would have to carry a rag to wipe the drool off your face.

These cars were the first BMW to really reach mass appeal. I have not looked at numbers, but if you excluded the E30, I bet they sold more E34s than all other models before, combined.

Parts abound, but if you want a nice car be prepared for some work. These cars are WAY tougher than E30's for interior work, and need lots more of it...unless you want a beater, right?

Are you door panels still tight? Sunroof work OK? Headlights, turn signals, all of that stuff still OK? Has the wiring on the trunk lid been fixed already, or do you get to do that too? Oh, and get some CRC electrical cleaner. It will fix LOTS of electrical issues by simply cleaning the contacts of the modules and cleaning all the grounds:

I am seriously considering starting an E34 forum, even though I know nothing about running one. I just know BF.c can't be the best that is out there for the beloved E34!

I miss my E34 dearly. The M30 doesn't put out huge numbers in stock form but the performance far exceeds expectations. Smooth, torquey, & fast. Run it up over 100mph in third, shift to 4th & it pulls exactly like it did before. Repeat for 5th.

Watch for the dreaded brake shudder of worn front bushings. Expensive yet rewarding repair.

You have the wood-trim interior. I thought that was only available from '92-on. ??
