Jordan's measurement only proved how soft his springs were and I call a huge BS flag on that anyways.

Splitters work, but it depends on how close they are to the ground, how big the venturi area is, and how far out they go.
Basically, you want to build up a high pressure area on top of the splitter, and a low pressure area underneath the splitter.
As far as 95% of the action it will see, splitters help protect the lip and valence (as others have said). I have ruined 2 splitters in the hell hole called knoxville, and I am sure it helped prevent damage to my iS lip and valence. However, splitters reduce the angle of inclination that your car can take, as you will be digging the splitter into the ground more often when taking things straight on.
