Yes. Wheels off, in trunk, frame in backseat. I've done it several times with my Cannondale Prophet. Get a rack, doing this more than once a week becomes annoying.

Check this out. On my track car (2dr) i put a fork mount on the floor board of the passenger seat.. ofcourse i had neither pass or rear seat. I just mounted my mt. bike there, put the wheel pump and gear in the trunk and went off. The reason i did this was so i can lock my bike inside the car.

Your best bet for a roofrack is going to be these forums, VWvortex, ebay, and craigslist. You need rain gutter style feet, which are reasonably common.

I did it a few times, both wheels and (if you have a big frame) seat off. Then the whole thing will tuck into the trunk.

Then I bought a roof rack, now I can carry 3 bikes at once!

I did it once. Both wheels off, bike shoe-horned in. I will never do it again though, its such a pain in the junk.

Both wheels off, it fit in the trunk with a little finagling. Bike, both wheels, trunk closed easily! I wouldn't make a habit of it but it sure beats taking a cab to Castro's!

just this past week i began to try to fit a mountain bike into my coupe that i wanted to bring from my mom's place. i took off the front wheel and it seemed like a lot of work and frustration after putting half the bike in, so i gave up and borrowed the suv instead. but it's good to know that it's possible in case I need to transport it in the future. anyone know where i can get a roof rack at the best price?

Mine will fit minus wheels and bars. It's big though.

Dude, my paint looks like hell

I don't plan on doing it often, I just want to pick up my car from the shop and get a ride in at the same time. 2 birds / one stone, etc. I'm fat and need the exercise.

With out wheels mine fit in the trunk or back seat, medium frames and only front suspension x-country types. My road bikes fit like a jiffy.
