It works, but only on a certain type of dent. The metal needs to be "pushed in", for example if someone sits on your hood and craters it down. It won't work on a typical door ding or a dent where the metal is actually bent or creased. It's also a pretty good way to crack your paint.Comment

the canned air has nothing to do with it. its the heat he put on it.
also as Raxe said, it will only work on a certain type of dent. dings actually have the metal bent. large dents are just pushed in bassically. you can do that same thing without the canned air with the same results.
my brother once bought a tahoe and it had a large dent on the hood. we spent a long time buffing it one night (after some trails) and he got the hood so hot that it just popped out real fast and kinda loud.
for some door dings that arent too bad try something like the pops-a-dent stuff. i know looks like crap product but is really one of the ways professionals pull certain dents. this method has saved me when returning a customers car to a lot with a faulty gate. 5 mins of hot lgue pull and dent is gone.Comment

No...As cool as this is I don't think it will work on a E30. My theory? The video featured a 2000's Toyota mini van which is has more plastic body pieces than metal. VS E30's are all metal. Taking this into consideration, plastic once formed will retain a memory of its original form. Heating the plastic will make it flexible again and then rapidly cooling it makes it want to pop back into its original form. Metal does not do this. Hence, I think it shall not work.Comment

the panel in the video is metal. newer cars tend to be thinner though. E30's do seem a bit thicker but this method may work only if the dent is shallow and large, and on a non supported part of metal(1 layer vs 2.) but the canned air is pointless.No...As cool as this is I don't think it will work on a E30. also if taking dents out of your cars was something easy, they wouldnt have schools to teach you how, and pdr guys wouldnt make 2k in 4 hours.Comment

multiple people in here, including myself have said it doesn't work. also like said if it DOES work for you it will likely be bigger "pushed in" dents if you're lucky.

well thats cool, you guys worked in pdr/auto body before? ive seen it done many times (no canned air). but you are correct in that it will only work on larger dents. but certainly not impossible.Comment
