So, you're going to judge my driving habits from ONE post?? You must be a perfect driver then? Never make mistakes? Oh, and you don't ever drive spiritedly? I never said I was perfect, nor did I say I was right. I was just sharing my experiences with him, to let him know that I feel for him. In no way was sharing that information meant to expose me to a personal attack from someone who thinks I'm stupid to ADMITTING I did something wrong, and bettering myself from it. You basically took what I said out of context... Sure, i drive fast, but only when I "feel" confident it's somewhat safe to do so. Which means, if I know the road. This INCLUDES, any obstactles I make know exist among other things. Besides, who knows - maybe I'd swerve to miss a family or kid, and not even be speeding!

I guess I just felt the personal attack was kind of uncalled for, so...yea... carry on I guess. :D

Anyway...thanks for the kind words, I guess? :?:

Hey, zxd, you made a mistake. it's good you've admitted that you did something stupid. It'll happen to us all. No one is perfect, and anyone that thinks they are is lieing to themselves. Next time, do your best to avoid the red mist. :) Keep us updated on how things go for you!

With your wheels cranked in a turn and you're already understeering, working ABS wouldn'thave done a damn thing. Front wheels were already overloaded, hitting the brakes would have just continued that and you would have still pushed straight into the curb.

I think it's funny how that makes two "my ABS light made me wreck" wrecks on r3v in three months. ABS wouldn't have changed the results in either.

I'm gonna have to agree with Blunt. Only one person on here can vouch for the 16 pounds of gravel I pulled (pulling) out of my car after cooking it at turn 11 at Mid Oh.

I have a relatively inexpensive solution for most of these kids however:

1.) Autox. Seriously, just get out and do it. Don't mod the car, don't buy sticky tires, just get out there and run. You will learn more shit in 6 autox days than you will in 10 years on the street. Simply learning vehicle dynamics on a magnified scale will make you think "oh, this is what it does, maybe I shouldn't be an asshole on the street". If you blow it there, you're only hitting a cone.

2.) PS2, Logitech GT4pro wheel, GT4, and Enthusia. Yea, it's 250-300 bucks. It's cheaper than wrecking the car. Fire up those games, turn off all driver aids, run "sim" tires, and use the wheel. See how the car behaves? That's realistic. See how it plows when you brake and steer at the same time? That's how it happens in a panic situation. Get used to the touchy feel, because that is realistic. You f' up there, you hit the reset button. That's a lot cheaper than buying a new car.

This is probably the best advice I've read on r3v in a long time. It's very true! The last time I fired up GT3, i was amazed by the realism. There are so many factors in the game that affect the way a car handles, and there are so many options on what you cna control.

And, the autocross suggestion, I second it. I've been autocrossing for well over a year now, and it's taught me a lot. I woulda been on the track last year at Octoberfest, but I wasn't 18 yet. That, and we won't be able to make the O-Fest this year, since I'm starting college and everything. Soon enough though! :)

yeah, i didnt know that, but then I dont understand how not using the brakes and using the gas instead would have saved me, and how someone is going to use the gas instead of the brakes, brakes are like an instinct

Putting power down in a RWD car transfers weight to the back tires. In the situation you were in, you had too much weight on the front tires. That alleviates the weight balance issue by removing weight from the front tires, allowing them to grip the road surface better.

                                Driving isn't an instinctual act.
