Do car sales go down in the winter?

Im looking to get my first e30 in the spring, but the number of e30s for sale on local craigslists (in NY) and the forums have really gone down. There are literally 2 decent e30s for sale near me. I know its a while off, buts its somewhat discouraging. So should i start making a backup list, or will more probably pop up soon?

My advice is to wait if your looking for a car you want to have for a long time. you dont want to automatically regret your new purchase. just wait it out and something will turn up.

Right, I intend to to that, but I dont have any car right now, which isnt an issue while im up at school, but when I come home for summer Ill need one for work and summer classes. Im going to try to get one over spring break so I have it when the summer starts, but id wait if i see nothing.

Definitely if you have something in mind, plans for the car or a certain set-up (DBs, transmission, year, body style, color combo, etc) do wait it out. It will come up.

I had been looking for a while and scored my idea set up.

If you need a car NOW, then either find a cheap beater or expand your search radius to help speed up the process.

Right around Christmas people are going to put off things like trying to sell a car. Too many other holiday distractions to have to spend time meeting people to sell a car.

After the first of the year, people get back to business and list cars for sale.

Yeah I was hoping to hold out for a 5 speed coupe with plastic bumpers, no care on color, in clean condition. Ive got about 6k give or take a little, so spending isnt really an issue, its just finding the right one. Although if i found a clean DB model on the cheap, id probably get it if there was nothing else and get some new euro bumpers from a dealer.

Dude is you got 6K for an E30 you have a lot of options short of some rarer pieces or an M3 .

Could find a swapped one. Or find one to swap yourself. A clean one, good working order wouldn't be too much more than 3k Ive seen and experienced in my search. Even in that budget you could ship one or make a trip out of it to pick one up. Or find a hoot for low dough and get a project one to build.

You'll be good man. Keep your eyes peeled. I always have my eyes peeled for these cars. A lot of folks don't know much about them and sell them pretty cheap. Buddy got one with 89k on it for 2400. Good condition, low mileage.

Craigslist and sign up to every BmW forum you can. Start looking. It's part of the fun. And make it worth it in the end.

Read up the buyer guides too.

More will pop up come tax returns. That also means they will disappear just as quick.
