    The Old, and The Older

Thought you guys might like this:

    My E30 next to a 1 owner 1967 2000 sedan

Car was purchased new in San Francisco by a police officer, who owned it til he died. His daughter gave the car to my friend (who is the former owner of my BMW, and the owner of the shop)

The 2000 shows how tough BMW's are. Even though it hadn't been run since ~1997, after changing fluids, plugs, and a couple fuel lines, we got it to fire up and run.

Save for some dodgy body work, the car's in astonishingly good shape and 100% complete.

    Not bad for free. :)

Which shop in Tualatin? ( I live in Sherwood) I take mine to German Auto Repair in Beaverton, but a closer shop would be ideal.

That old school 2000 is hella nice. There is an exotic car show in Sunriver here every year, last year there was a PERFECT red Bavaria there. It was so nice.

Cool ride Jon, Funny they are just about the same proportions to each other. Yours and the the 2000. What branch of service do you work for? That is a DOD sticker at the top of your windscreen correct?

You have a good eye :D I don't work for the armed forces, but the prior owner of the car (and owner of the shop in the background, Techmeister Import Services) was in the Navy Reserve.

The shop was located out on Cipole Rd. right off of Hwy 99. Unfortunately, he closed the shop earlier this summer when he got an offer to merge his business with that of a friend's (and former co-worker at Sunset Porsche/Audi). That business is in Lake Grove.

The 2000 is a real life 'car in the barn' story. The daughter of the prior owner called him 3 years ago, inquiring about a possible value on the car. He told her at the time that sight unseen, and given it wasn't running, it was impossible to give an estimated value over the phone.

Fast forward about 10 months--she calls again, stating that they need to move from the farm on which they are living, and the car has to (literally) be moved out of the barn...would he like to buy it, or know anyone that might? Given he had enough personal projects at the time ('72 911S, Ducati, my 325, the blue Audi in the foreground getting an engine/mgmt swap, a 21 window Bus, 2 Honda dirt bikes...), he declined.

She calls a few weeks later, says the car MUST be moved, and if he'll pay the tow truck fee, he can have it. He did so, they signed over the title, and he became the 2nd owner of a complete, rust-free, running 1967 BMW 2000.
