My friend and i had one that I built a 2.0 16v for that we would tow the road race Karmann Ghia on a trailer with all the tools and spares in the bed under a camper shell. Even loaded down with all that crap , I would keep up with traffic on the freeway (it could do a steady 75mph, but it would take a while to get there).

They are a little cramped up front, so if you are around 6' tall, plan on having the seats all the way back. IIRC we used either chevy luv or toyota leaf springs in the back to handle the extra weight and they bolted right in with no mode.

Pretty much everything from a rabbit will bolt on to them, some MKII stuff fits with a little modifications. Check out vwvortex.com for info. It is best to lurp there, most of the knowledgeable people on there have moved on and be replaced by kids who know it all, but have never picked up a wrench. Using the search button will be your friend.

There's an ignition control box below the windshield on the driver side, sometimes it's connector gets wet/ corroded.

BTW I'm 0 for 1 helping fix a Rabbit Caddy over r3v, soooo..
