On my 87' 325is when I accelerate flat out I usually get a hiccup or two on the upper end of the tach ( 4-5 k rpm). Is this normal for e30s? If not any ideas?

No, just flat out anywhere, it's like a quick blip, almost a loss of power for a second then it comes back. When I say quick it's pretty quick. I will be accelerating hard then get to about 4.5k and it hiccups then comes back at about 100 rpm higher or 200 higher then just continues with my acceleration. If I hold my tach while driving at 4 or 5k though it is fine, no bumps or anything.

I don't know if the previous owner replaced it so I am goin to assume as old as the car. :/ are they expensive to replace? I plan on cleaning injectors, checking sparks and fuel pump so far as well with replacing ignition wires. I don't know much about the distributor. Is it easy to DIY or would you recommend a mechanic?

Fuel Pump. Was just like that before mine went out. Quick Fix. ;)
edit: or fuel filter, both happened to me.

fuel filter, fuel pump, distributor cap and rotor, plugs, wires, coil, anything really.
Mine use to do it occasionally after a hard corner with low fuel in the tank.
