FP is a crap company and the 07 never had carbon gears, the trans was exactly the same as previous 6-spds, they just made some of the gears longer for a friendlier driving experience.

Impreza, yes. GC is a chassis code, like e30. GD is another code, like e36. They changed with years / body design.

I bought my WRX wagon(brand new) back in 2002. I have 162,000 miles and I've AutoX'ed/RallyX'ed it early in it's life and just recently I had to replace the center diff. The stock turbo, engine and trans(gears) are fine. I only use about 1/2 quart of oil a month. I've also had a GL wagon back in the early nineties. I love Subaru's. They are decent, reliable cars and I will always have one as a daily.

Yes, I think as the STI's became popular the more douches got into them but that's with any quick car. Some Evo guys and most of the SRT-4 guys are asshats.


Actually, GC is the chassis code for the USDM sedan and GM is the coupe. The UK/JDM code is GC for both sedan and coupe. The 8 means a turbo EJ20.

Let me break it down,

GC/GM/GF = USDM sedan/coupe/wagon (6 is the code for the N/A EJ25)
GC8 = JDM STI coupe and sedan
GF8 = JDM STI wagon

GDA/GGA = 2002-2007 USDM WRX sedan/wagon
GDB = USDM/JDM 2004-2007 STI sedan
GGB = JDM 2001 STI wagon
