    Clunk in transtunnel? Advice? Possibilities?

Ok guys ive been feeling this clunk/ hit on my forearm when taking some road inperfections. I have a husco armrest and thats where my forearm rests while my hand is on the shifter. It feels like something jumps and hit my forearm. For some reason i was surfing the net and randomly read that some guys e30 was too low that even the driveshaft was hitting on his gas tank. Does this Make sence and explain my problem? Mime is not that low BTW. Its normal drop.

I feel that this thread is ghey... But hey any advice would make my day as this is bugging me.

Its likely going to be worn bushings of some sort. the driveshaft is not hitting the gas tank. Get it up and look at subframe bushings. Unless the clunk is happening under acceleration/deceleration then its guibo/CSB related. If youve never done bushings just do them all. Its not that expensive,, Just time consuming and theres nothing like a fresh suspension of all new rubber

A thunk in your drive-line usually means one or any of three things is worn out:

Guibo - at the joint between the transmission and the driveshaft. Simple, remove six bolts and nuts, replace guibo, reinstall bolts n' nuts

Center Suport Bearing - supports the middle of the driveshaft at the joint between the two halves. Simple Replacement, pull the driveshaft slide on and reinstall driveshaft.

U-Joint- at the joint between the driveshaft and the Differential. Not replaceable, but a good driveline shop can rebuild the driveshaft.

Any one of these components being worn, will in turn increase wear on the other two.

Thanks guys, i suspected the rear subframe and trailarm bushings were the culprits, who wants to come to PR and do them for me? Haha.

The guibo and center support bearing are new.

I had in my plans to change the bushings in february.
Thanks guys and i hope its that.

Are the bolts tight on your CSB and guibo? Since they were just done and now you have this problem I would go back and check the work that was performed...

While you are under there, I'd check for play in your U-Joint. Any radial play in the bearings is a no-go. My first e30 had this problem. After ruining two CSB's I finally had the dirveshaft rebuilt and that solved the problem.

                    Ok guys problem solved.
This sucker was way too loose. Pls dont ask me how!

I still feel another kind of clunk from the rear but sure it is coming from the subframe bushings. To be fixed in february hopefuly.

Cheers and thanks for your help.
